1000 Hearts for Harry was established in memory of Harry Dubois, who sadly passed away aged 17 in 2014 with an undetected heart condition. The Dubois family has channeled their efforts to raise funds to provide local, free heart screens for 14-35 year-olds and address the alarming statistic of 12 young people dying every week in the UK from the condition....
Who We Are
Mario and Debbie Dubois, from Manchester, have led a major screening drive to aid early detection of heart conditions in young people. Inspired by the life of their son Harry, who passed away from an undiagnosed heart condition when he was 17 years old, the couple created ‘1000 Hearts for Harry’, working with ‘Cardiac Risk in the Young’ to screen 1000 young people. They have worked tirelessly to raise awareness of early detection and the fact that 12 young people die each week in the UK as a result of heart problems they were not aware of. Mario and Debbie have raised over £87,000 for their screening days and have screened almost 2,000 young people.
